Estefanía Colmenares Hernández is a journalist with several years of experience with major newspapers in Colombia. She graduated from the Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá with a Masters in Jounalism from the BCNY program, a joint program between the Universidad de Barcelona and Columbia University. She worked for 4 years as a journalist in El Tiempo, the most widely read newspaper in Colombia.  At El Tiempo, she was assigned to the Bogota bureau for 3 years and then was a part of the launch team for the free newspaper ADN, a Spanish franchise owned by the same house that owned El Tiempo at the time, the Grupo Planeta. 

After the launch of ADN, she served as editor of the local section for a year, after which she decided to move to Spain to pursue her masters degree. Upon returning to Colombia in 2010, she joined the President´s writing staff, where she wrote speeches for the current president of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos.  In 2013, she moved to Cúcuta, her hometown, to become the Editor-in-Chief of her family´s newspaper, La Opinion. She has also written articles for the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia and is collaborating with a new digital venture to be launched in Colombia.
